Saint Ronil

BONJOU,

My name is Romano Verhoef, I am a singer/songwriter from the Netherlands with Haitian roots. I go by the name of Saint Ronil.

As long as I can remember music has been there for me. As a young adopted black boy with a visible physical disability, I sometimes felt out of place and went through lots of struggles. It was making music that kept me sane and kept me going. And it still does.

In my musical journey I touched a lot of different styles and genres. It helped me grow into the musician that I am today and it helped me to develop my own style.

I felt most comfortable when I started to make the music that really reflected my life and my personality. I decided to write about subjects that mattered most to me while making use of the language that I felt closest to; Kreyòl (Hatian Creole) and Caribbean english. This is when people really started to no:ce and appreciate what I was making.

As a result a couple of ati:sts recently invited me to work on their projects as a featured artist. In 2021 I’ve got the chance to work with artists like Alain Clark, FS Green, Waxfiend and the Dj collective Chamos, just to name a few. Thanks to these collaborations I got to share the stage with Alain Clark and with Dj Waxfiend on several occasions (including the ADE edition of, the already legendary, TRIBES/ZIONGATE). Right now i am ready to release my solo project called Morning Black. Morning Black will be the official introduction of Saint Ronil. On the EP I introduce my genre, which I like to call “Kompa Fusion”, to the world. The EP consists of 5 songs in which I touch subjects like feminism, love and black consciousness. For this project I worked closely with producer Dave Nunes, a super talented producer who produced and arranged all the songs.
